    Bollywood playback singer Runa Rizvi has been awarded the “Idea BIG Rajasthan Rising Star Award” for 2011. The awards recognize the promising talent of today, who are poised to become superstars of tomorrow.


    StarBuzz Weekly, Toronto-Sep 25, 2011 - Bollywood playback singer Runa Rizvi has been awarded the “Idea BIG Rajasthan Rising Star Award” for 2011. The award was handed over to her at a gala ceremony organized by Reliance Broadcast Network Ltd. (RBNL) at the Maharana Pratap Auditorium in Jaipur on September 24, 2011.

    Runa was awarded for her accomplishment in Ghazal and Sufi singing, both of the genres being close to her heart. She was trained by her father Ghazal maestro Ustad Rajkumar Rizvi in the Kalawant Gharana of Indian classical music. She has worked with a number of top-rated music directors of the Indian film industry including the Academy Award winning AR Rahman, who selected her for the title track of Aamir Khan Production’s “Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na” and the background vocals of the English film “Provoked,” starring Aishwarya Rai.

    In addition to Bollywood playback singing, Runa also excels in world fusion music. She has been touring with Prem Joshua & Band, and has also cut an album called “Luminous Secret” with the cross-over band. Recently, she has teamed up with ace percussionist Sivamani and world famous Jazz Pianist Louiz Banks to form “Sri Saranam” – a unique fusion band that has been performing across India.

    On receiving the award, Runa expressed her gratitude to the organizers and the public voters for nominating and selecting her as the "Rising Star Singer" of the Year. “It’s a BIG honor for me, and I thank everyone for having faith in my talent and encouraging me to do even better for years to come,” she added, “You can look forward to some great music from me, as I continue to work hard on my music to keep entertaining you.” Runa also revealed that she is busy working on a number of new exciting projects besides performing live shows across the world.

    The BIG Rising Star Awards, a creation of BIG Live – the intellectual property (IP) arm of RBNL with mobile service providers Idea as its title sponsor. The “Rising Stars,” young Indians who have done a outstanding work in field of music, dance, acting, and sports have been elected by a distinguished jury as well as public voting, Sukhdeep Sohal, Business Head, 92.7 Big FM, told the media. Actor Asrani and Raj Singh Chaudhari were among the jury members for these awards.

    BIG Rising Star Awards is regarded as India’s biggest ever Bollywood talent search platform and will cover talent categories across TV, movies, theater, fashion, sports, dance and music. Positioned as ‘Aaj Ka Star, Kal ka Superstar’, the awards recognize the promising talent of today, who are poised to become superstars of tomorrow.

    Deepa Sahi, the actor-turned-director of Tere Mere Phere, a comedy flick on love & marriage, came to promote her film at the launch of BIG Indian Comedy Awards. Said Deepa that she was spell bound by the impromptu performances of well know stand up actors like Navin Prabhakar, Rehman, Sunil Pal, Sudesh Lahiri, VIP, Rajeev Mehta &, Anang Desai from the TV serial Khichidi…who have taken comedy to a different level altogether. She felt very happy that these artistes are getting appreciated for all the hard work they do…making people laugh!

Talking about his hay days as an assistant director, Farhan Akhtar informed Preity that once on the sets of a film he was asked to polish the floor as instructed by his director. Being the sincere boy that he is, he got down to do the job at hand. In the meanwhile, Sridevi was rehearsing her dance steps and before anyone realizes thanks to the polish Sridevi slipped and fell flat onto the floor! Now that for sure made for a good start to Farhan’s career in the industry!

    Synopsis

    "Mere Brother Ki Dulhan" is a quirky romantic comedy set in the world of the upper middle class in Northern India. Kush Agnihotri (Imran Khan) is looking for the ideal Indian bride for his Brother Luv Agnihotri (Ali Zafar) who stays in London. In his quest, Kush goes through an array of wacky encounters with several families until he finally finds that perfect girl in Dimple Dixit (Katrina Kaif), the craziest / wackiest girl he has ever known. Both the families meet. Formalities completed. Preparations proceed in full swing. And just then, our hero Kush falls in love with Dimple... his brother's dulhan. What follows is a comical and unpredictable series of events in this unusual topsy-turvy tale of love. Espionage thriller Aazaan sees global launch with India-England ODIs

    StarBuzz Weekly, Toronto-azaan's is taking the same route as Ra.One when it comes to marketing and promotional strategy. Just like the Shah Rukh Khan starrer which had seen a huge global launch earlier this year during World Cup cricket where it's First Look was revealed, even this debut effort by Sachiin Joshi is treading the same path. Now the First Look of Aazaan would be launched globally with the commencement of India-England One Day Internationals today.

    "The makers of Aazaan have a huge plan for the film's launch. They understand that cricket is a huge platform for the film to be seen worldwide and hence have booked some of the most prominent spots right through this cricket series. It has turned out top be an extremely expensive affair but it is in line with the kind of budget that Aazaan has kept aside for it's marketing activities", says a source attached to the film which has been directed by Prashant Chadha. 

    Touted to be Bollywood's biggest espionage thriller ever, Aazaan is a multi-crore affair which boasts of an elaborate shooting schedule all over the globe that includes locations spread across France, Morocco, China, Germany, Poland, South Africa and Thailand to name a few.

    "Since the film has an international appeal, it makes sense to make use of a global platform to let the audience know what the film is all about", the source continues, "During these ODIs, the First Look of Aazaan would be seen not just in India but all the countries where these matches would be broadcast. Idea is to create global awareness around the film since it has an elaborate release plan for itself this October."

    Those who have caught a sneak peak of the film claim that Aazaan boasts of the kind of striking visuals that belong to 'never seen before' category. However one looks forward to check out if these claims are indeed true or not once the First Look indeed arrives during these cricket matches.

    When contacted, the film's producers confirmed that Aazaan would indeed kick-start it's campaign starting with the India-England ODI series. Now one just hopes that India starts winning as well to increase further viewer-ship of Aazaan and helps the film achieve what it has been set out for.

    Love Breakups Zindagi is an interesting upcoming film that delves into the world of volatile relationships between couples in the modern age. The film revolves around lives of three couples who try their luck in love.
    StarBuzz Weekly, Toronto-Aug 24, 2011 - Love Breakups Zindagi is a forthcoming romantic comedy that is written and directed by Sahil Sangha and has Dia Mirza and Zayed Khan in the lead roles. The film also features the likes of Cyrus Sahukar, Tisca Chopra, Vaibhav Talwar, Pallavi sharda, Umang Jain and Auritra Ghosh. The film is also the maiden production of Born Free Entertainment, a production company by Dia Mirza and Zayed Khan. Music for the film is created by Salim-Sulaiman and the lyrics have been penned the legendary Javed Akhtar. The film is slated for release on 7th October.

    Love Breakups Zindagi debates whether opposites attract or repel. Is love an option or choice? And what does one do if his or her chosen one is with someone else? Love Breakups Zindagi takes us into the confusing world of modern relationships. The film comes with the message that if you don’t go looking for love, then love will come looking for you!

    Love Breakups Zindagi has Jai (Zayed Khan) and Naina (Dia Mirza) who are almost "settled" in life with respective partners but are yet incomplete. Jai feels that magic and serendipity have passed him by while Naina has reconciled to the fact that a less than fulfilling life is enough for her. Govind (Cyrus Sahukar) has had two divorces behind him and is yet ready for another wrong relationship. But it could be possible that this 'mistake' was the love he has been looking for all his life? Sheila (Tisca Chopra) a singleton has waited long for Mr. Perfect. When he does appear, will she take a chance at love and look beyond the imperfections to see what combines them in a perfect whole? DEBUTANT SACHIIN JOSHI HURT WHILE SHOOTING ACTION SCENES

    StarBuzz Weekly, Toronto-Debutant Sachiin Joshi was shooting for his forthcoming film AAZAAN opposite Hollywood hottie Candice Boucher he ‘fell’ in trouble – quiet literally.  Sachiin Joshi, who had to jump off a speeding trailer , unfortunately fell off it much before the marking point and hit the road, and hurt his shoulder as it hit the footpath. The shooting was stopped and almost immediately the doctors came on the scene to attend to the actor. But, being dedicated as Sachiin is to his work he resumed shoot a few hours later than making the unit wait and letting the day go waste.
    “I jumped off a few seconds before I was supposed to so I don’t blame anyone for this accident but myself. The shoulder still hurts but it’s ok I am sure it will

    recover completely in a few days," said Sachiin Joshi. While the director of the movie Prashant Chadha also was on the sets completely taken aback, he added , “We all saw him jump off the trailer and hit the road hard but it all happened so fast that we couldn’t do much. Though Sachiin didn’t call it a day, after some pain killers he was back on the sets.”
    AAZAAN  is an international action thriller, shot at exotic locations across the globe in 8 countries. It stars Sachiin J Joshi, Candice Boucher, Amber Rose and host of Indian and International talent. The production crew comprises of Oscar Winning German Cinematographer Axel Fisher, BVK (Enemy at the Gates) and Editor Humphry Dixon (UK).
    AAZAAN will be India’s first espionage film shot in such a large scale, spanning seven countries, talking of the global threat of terrorism… The film is slated to release on October 14, 2011 worldwide.
